Today is the 9th of September, 2021. In this article, I want to go through the various regions and compare the top champions for each role. I have to include the date, because League of Legends is ever evolving and changing, so in a week or two, these champions might change. So let's dive straight into it. All of the date comes from Platinum+ rating.

TOP LANE

Fiora is dominating in every region.

Only a few differences between NA EU and KR regions. NA prefers Tahm Kench and his tanky staying power, EUW prefers Irelia, the carry bruiser type that can play a lot more aggressively. Korea and China both have Fiora at number one with quite a few differences later on. China has a lot of Malphite and Lillia, both very situational and requires a unique setup to work. But both want to engage in a fight. Malphite has probably the easiest engagement in the game, while Lillia setup requires a lot of skill.

JUNGLE

In the jungle, the regions seem quite similar, except Korea. While KR has Jarvan like everyone else, the rest of their top picks are very different. Indicating even a different approach to the jungle and the game. Elise, Nidalee, Talyah are “keep away” and poke champions. (Elise game style in Korean games is rarely to go into melee range, just as a follow up, same as nidalee would only go in as a follow up, mostly they sit back and throw poke at at distance or try to hit a stun)

Another thing all 5 champions in KR top picks for Jungle have in common - their mobility. All of them are really fast, with Elise being the slowest, but she still has quite high mobility. This clearly shows that Jungle active movement across the map is really important in Korean solo queue. Jarvan IV is in every region's TOP5, so he clearly wins the Jungle.MID LANE

This lane is a bit interesting, Vex jumped to the top pick in Korea, but she was out only a week, so it's difficult to say where she will land. Either way, KR server is the only one that prefers her now, rest of the servers stick to the more tried and true champions.

Akshan is the latest addition to Mid lane across the world, so he wins this lane!

Asia regions prefer LeBlanc still quite highly, while EUW and NA prefer Zed, Fizz or Kassadin a bit more. Well and let's not pretend Kassadin won't ever be a part of European mid meta, considering the history of that champion in the region.

ADC

I had a hard time deciding who gets the first place here. Vayne is in second place in ¾ regions and 1st in NA. But I gave it to Miss Fortune, even though she is lower in NA and EU, she is the first place in both Korea and China servers. But Either way, judge this how you want. Both of these champions are very influential in the world. Not a lot of variability in the ADC spot also. NA and EU have the same champions in different order. Korea has Ziggz and China has Ezreal as “unique” picks.

SUPPORT

Even after the Soraka buffs, no one managed to defeat the sad mummy at this time. Amumu is comfortably winning across all regions. We can also notice a few glaring differences, how EUW prefers so many enchanters compared to other servers, less so NA. While China and Korea almost exclusively play tanky champions.
