Over almost a decade of League of Legends European Championship, there were plenty of champions that were considered best. Riot is constantly updating the game to keep the meta fresh. I wanted to review the history of champions that were on top.
We will go through every split and use the same format to display top 3 champions that were most contested and had the most games played. We will only include the regular season without playoffs or relegation matches.
Champion Name - Pick/Ban ratio % - number of games - win rate %.
2013 - The Beginning of EU LCS
We can see quite a few different champions at the top over the years. Thresh was one of the most reliable picks over the decade. Thresh was most often contested and played champion. More often than most of the other champions.
Kassadin had the highest pick/ban ratio ever at 99.1% in 2014 Summer.
2018 Spring is the only season that had ALL three most contested and most played champions below 50% win rate.
Braum has the lowest winrate ( 38.9% ) in Spring of 2019 out of any “most played champion” ever. Second lowest win rate ( 44.2% ) was alsy by Braum in Spring of 2016.
Highest win rate of the most played champions - Rell - 64.1% in 2021 Spring Split.
Second place: Malzahar 63.6% Spring of 2017.
Most games played ever by champion in one split - Karma - 100 games in Summer of 2016.
